Rannis administers the main public competitive funds in the field of research and innovation  in Iceland, including the Research Fund, the Technical Development Fund and the Innovation Fund for Students.


Rannis coordinates and promotes Icelandic participation in  international cooperation in the field of research and innovation. Rannis coordinates Iceland's participation in Horizon 2020, the EU framework programme for research and innovation.

Education & Culture

Rannis manages international cooperation programmes and national funds in the field of education and culture. Rannis hosts the National Agency for Erasmus+ and Creative Europe.

Innovative musical instrument receives innovation award
